#PROTECTIONISM *organ sting, wolf howl, owl hoot*...
One time when certain #socialist and #nationalist people agree is when protectionism is plopped on the table.
In a modern, #global #economy, it's borderline fiscal suicide, as exports and imports need to go brrrr.
But there are times when protectionism must be applied, and my stink eye is aimed squarely at #USA.
Part 1/
#DigitalSovreignty should also entail the valuation of data as a form of currency and that #US interests have devalued the data of countries around the world by making it as cheap as possible. It's a matter of supply and demand.
In this vein #DataBrokers can be considered a national threat, because what they do is devalue citizens data by feeding it into various tracking and learning models.
I'm saying we've been bamboozled, hoodwinked, raked over the coals, the yanks got us good.
Part 2/
In the end most countries not only follow the #American model, but do so unwittingly.
I'm not saying Americans aren't entertaining or inspiring, but #SiliconValley, coupled with the #USGovernment, their #financeindustry that feeds these silly #VentureCapitalists money to fail upwards is becoming somewhat trite - and dangerous.
I'm against #tracking of my people in #Norway, mostly because no country should have centralized access to all the world's data.
That is insane.
Part 3/
In the end I am dawning my bowler cap, sticking a cigar in my mouth and saying "I have a plan"... (old ass #Norwegians will get it).
#deadinternettheory is one thing, #artificalinteligence is another, and the #databrokerage problem - hoo boy.
It's time we start thinking inside the box, by creating a storm inside of a bottle, a hermetically sealed environment for people who don't want to be influenced by outsiders.
Until we meet again...
