I am the recommender (editor) recruiter @pcirr and I have been implementing #antiracist, #antisexist recruitment policies, and targeting researchers in the #GlobalSouth as I seek out and invite researchers to become recommenders

👉 Ledgerwood et al.'s (2024) "Disrupting racism and global exclusion in academia" has wonderful advice on how #EditorialBoards should incorporate action into their infrastructure doi.org/10.1525/collabra.121394

💡 I’m taking this as a chance to reflect on each of their 9 recommendations (in table 3) to see what we are getting right and what we can do better at PCI RR

I tackle one recommendation at a time in this thread (in a slow drip because I’m doing this when I’m able to carve out time, so stay tuned)…

A lot of people are asking about #nextsteps and honestly I think a lot of white people like me need to talk to their #boomer #parents and tell them you expect them to be affirmatively #antiracist and #antifascist. That if their friends say some stupid shit that they should simply say, "Well, I don't believe that..." rather than just letting it pass or changing the subject uncomfortably. Too many are doing that and I am having a hell of a time getting my own parents to do the right thing.

Last month, members of the Aryan Freedom Network (AFN)--a militant neo-Nazi organization--held a small "hiking & campout" event at Stone Mountain. An image posted to Telegram shows just three Nazis posing with an AFN flag. (A fourth presumably took the picture.)

As we have stressed before: the State of Georgia purchased Stone Mountain Park and completed the Confederate carvings on its mountain face as a show of opposition to Civil Rights. The site has an earlier history as the birthplace of the modern Ku Klux Klan.

As long as the racist carvings remain, the Park will continue to attract organized white supremacists. This obviously creates danger for the surrounding community, especially residents who simply enjoy the Park as a pleasant hike or place to exercise.

An interesting article on the history of Stone Mountain and its carvings is here:

No, far right billionaires are having a "take over the world party", and using the same racist and hate attacks is what their propagandists advise.

You will be pleased to find out that in Canada and Australia, these far right attacks blew up in their faces.

Labour, (red) below was supposed to lose this election as LNP (blue) went Trumpist.

Labour won in Australia, largest tidal wave election victory ever.

"The right is reeling"

Same happened in Canada.

Look, you are either or you're - the difference being: are you a Daryl Davis or not?

Some seem to think that will win against hate, that the only solution is to fight fire with fire. But as my mother always said, fighting fire with fire burns the whole forest down.

Know that what Mr Davis did was point out the obvious: are just confused and scared human beings. You can win them over, they can be helped.

But it's all about .
