The bottom of the garden. Confusingly, the garden slopes *up* towards the bottom.
Bottom left the pond. The brick construction on the right is what we call the folly. Bees, other insects, birds and pond dwelling individuals love it. So do I.
Planted to feel and look natural, wild, full and overflowing. Weeds a.k.a. wildflowers are welcome.

Colourburst on a grey, drizzly day in this corner of a border:
Blue flowering lavender and the last blue delphiniums, golden grasses, white Cenolophium denudatum, red and yellow Gaillardia aristata, yellow Rudbeckia hirta, yellow self sown evening primrose, purple seedheads on a self sown Lunaria annua (honesty), purple stems on the Selinum wallichianum, a few of the last Marguerites, green foliage.

I love Hollyhocks! They are beautiful, tall, robust, unruly, bawdy and keep going all summer. Bees and other insects love them and behave as if they were shopping for recreational drugs.
This plant lives in an area in the garden called the Garden of Delights.

This border is what I see when I look out of the living room patio doors.
Essentially, this is a grasses border interplanted with perennials - plus self sown annuals and biennials.

First potato harvest of the year. I only lift what I need, the rest is best 'stored' in the ground.
As in previous years I have grown Kestrel, a second earlies variety. My vegetable garden is no dig.

As I said before, happiness is an overflowing garden. Here, the paved path from the patio to the pond is becoming almost impassable. As I walk, the plants grab me and touch my skin. Beautiful!
Again - Good: Walk barefoot.
Better: Barefoot + bare arms and legs.
Best: Shed your clothes altogether if your garden is sufficiently private.
Heightens your senses, brightens the dullest day and banishes gloomy thoughts.

Exciting: Discovered a new wildflower in the garden, which I think we never had before. It appears to be a Pyramidal orchid, Anacamptis pyramidalis.
Another individual, who arrived on the wind and decided to stay.
Apparently native and widespread in England and Wales. A favourite with butterflies and moths.

Summer in paradise!

Harvested garlic today. Almost all bulbs a really good size, better than in previous years.
90 bulbs in total, which will see us through to the next harvest and provide seed bulbs for planting in December.
I started growing garlic several years ago. It makes me happy to realise that this is my 8th harvest!

About time I posted something new: A perfect illusion of summer bliss.
The border in the foreground is problematic: What I plant does not do particularly well and what I think should not be there is thriving. Just as well that I have learned not to argue with nature: It is beautiful, it’s natural and I could not have planned (and planted) it better.
