The Bank of England is saying it's a bubble, it will burst and to watch out for it.

Could they tell UKGOV that? They seem to think all this promise of investment for data centres is going to be honoured.

At Labour’s 2025 conference, Rachel Reeves claimed lifting the two-child benefit cap is unaffordable.

But analysis shows scrapping it actually strengthens the economy and public finances. Independent institutions like the OBR are important, but “independent” does not mean “indisputable.”

The timing is intriguing. The sustained rise in inflation-adjusted #uk house prices appears to have started in the late 1990s . This was before significant net immigration from the #eu but just after the #bankofengland was given both independence and an inflation target which excluded both asset prices and housing costs. I can recall #sircharlesgoodhart being extremely worried about this omission at the time - and saying so.
