Ahead of this afternoon’s hearing, lawyers for #KilmarAbregoGarcia accused the #Trump admin of violating a #SCOTUS order demanding that officials “facilitate” his release from a Salvadoran prison. “There is no evidence that anyone has requested the release of Abrego Garcia,” the lawyers wrote. The two sides are scheduled to gather at 4PM in Federal District Court in Maryland.
The control of #language is necessary to undermine a legal or constitutional order. Our rule of #law begins w/notions such as the people & their rights. If politicians shift the framework to "criminals" & "terrorism," then they are shifting the purpose of the state.
In the #UnitedStates, we are governed by a #Constitution. Basic to the Constitution is #HabeasCorpus, the notion that the government cannot seize your body without a legal justification for doing so.

During ordinary times, this accommodation would reflect an appropriate respect for the constitutional #SeparationOfPowers. In dealing with this Administration, with its maximalist conception of executive authority & its contemptuous attitude toward the #judiciary, the Justices are being played for fools.
That, the govt argued, would intrude on the President’s sole power to conduct foreign relations. So the govt’s responsibility here is to, what, maybe issue #AbregoGarcia a Global Entry card to cut the #immigration line if he somehow turns up at a #US airport? This defiant position cannot stand—not if the rule of #law is to survive.
