Common garter snake (Thamnophis sirtalis) in my yard yesterday. I spent a good chunk of my childhood thinking the name was *garden* snake, likely because plenty of seemingly trustworthy adults in my orbit called them that. #GarterSnake #GardenSnake #garden #snake #reptile #etymology #herps #nature
Rhubarb and peas. I probably should put some cardboard down around the rhubarb now that it's probably all up from wherever it's going to come up to cover up some of that grass. The peas are slowly getting taller, need to put some twine down from the trellis next to them.
Beets, radish, spinach, and arugula or rocket, colewort, roquette, ruchetta, rucola, rucoli, and rugula... ;)
It was a nice sunny day so I waited until the sun was down to take photos.
It's #Easter week in #Appalachia where we finish #planting the #garden, #baking Hot Cross Buns, and enjoying #Springtime.
Silo got his Easter gift a bit early this year.
