Ganga<p>Equally good hot or cold, a simple Green Bean Salad is sure to be a favourite. A beautiful Italian salad <a href="https://mastodon.au/tags/win" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>win</span></a>.</p><p>Simple and easy (very much my kind of food), the beans are steamed and then mixed with mint, garlic and lemon. Take it straight to the table for an instant salad, entree/starter or snack. With some crusty bread, it can even become a light lunch.</p><p>I used the round, fat, one-bulb garlic that I get from the Asian grocery. It is milder and more delicious than the normal garlic.</p><p><a href="https://mastodon.au/tags/food" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>food</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.au/tags/FromTheArchives" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>FromTheArchives</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.au/tags/FromTheKitchen" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>FromTheKitchen</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.au/tags/GrowYourOwn" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>GrowYourOwn</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.au/tags/Vegetarian" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Vegetarian</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.au/tags/Salads" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Salads</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.au/tags/ItallianFood" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>ItallianFood</span></a></p>

AO Smith<p>We picked another bowl of peaches this morning so we decided to can up some peach jam.</p><p>We split the peach puree, planning to mix half up with some goumi berry puree we had frozen a month ago. But the flavor of the processed goumi berries had sort of an unpleasant "sour squash" vibe. We used a half cup in 3 1/2 cup peaches as an experiment and fed the rest to the chickens. </p><p>We ended up with 10 half-pints jam, which is my preferred jam jar size. </p><p><a href="https://hachyderm.io/tags/gardening" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>gardening</span></a> <a href="https://hachyderm.io/tags/GrowYourOwn" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>GrowYourOwn</span></a></p>

Bec<p>On the advice of a good friend, I took the day off today – no freelance stuff, no PhD edits, just usual things: went to the markets for soup ingredients, took Dad shopping, came home and made soup, and then a good hour and a half in the garden (the sun! it shone!)</p><p>I saw someone on youtube growing potatoes in cardboard boxes so I thought I'd give it a go.
