And one of the most interesting things about the PA-RISC based HP-9000 712 series is its Color Recovery system (allowing approximated 24-bit color from an 8-bit framebuffer -- which is effective and fascinating) and also, for me, the fact that it runs NEXTSTEP.
It's my fastest NEXTSTEP machine.

Included was a standard 712/60 with 17" CRT, 32MB RAM and 1GB drive, bundled with the C SoftBench IDE for C developers plus HP ANSI C, DDE debugger, linker etc.

#Microsoft actually knows they have no leverage in reality, which is why when #Lenovo, #Dell & #hp came to them to demand better #terms or they'd switch to #Linux, Microsoft decided to pay them $25 per #Windows Pro preinstall instead.
- I think what is needed is not just Linux-friendly #hardware, but explcitly Windows-unfriendly hardware and #software.
Tho the only reason Microsoft's managment hasn't canceled #OTP #CCSS and replaced it with #SaaS-only shit is because they'd instantly piss off too many #customers and #ValueRemoving #rentseekers that run the entire "#Antivirus" cottage industry.

The new SwissMicros DM42n came in and this thing is awesome and also built like a mini tank. Got the `db50x` firmware installed as well and it's gonna take some time to figure out where everything is at. However, absolutely loving this thing.
