This skeet by the wonderful Vivian Jenna Wilson explains so much about why Elon Musk is so salty about trans people in general. He literally paid to have only sons, and then it turns out one of his children is a woman after all...

I cannot imagine the sheer amount courage that Vivian must have, defying her deadbeat biological father who just happens to be the richest man on earth, with quite literally every fibre of her being. May we all find strength like her to stand proud and tall in the face of the current transmisic shitstorm.

@wdlindsy It’s hard for me to go here. Everything that he was going to do has been out there for everyone to see for a very long time. People simply wanted to believe his #IVF empty promises and #Project2025 nondenial denial. And yet, maybe people aren’t seeing the same things I’m seeing. Maybe, despite the fact that it defies all logic to me, they have missed the incredible body of evidence out there that #Trump is nothing but a habitual liar who will say anything to get what he wants.

Deciding the fate of “leftover” #embryos
It’s not always easy to choose whether to store, donate or discard extra #IVF embryos.
No one knows for sure how many embryos are frozen in storage tanks, but the figure is thought to be somewhere between 1 million and 10 million in the US alone. Some of these embryos have been in storage for years or decades. In some cases, the intended parents have deliberately chosen this, opting to pay hundreds of dollars per year in fees.

Elon Musk and the Billionaire Baby Boom
#TaylorLorenz
Feb 20, 2025 #PowerUserPodcast w/ Taylor Lorenz
Last week, it was revealed that #ElonMusk had welcomed his 13th child into the world with conservative influencer Ashley St. Clair. But he’s not the only tech mogul fixated on boosting birth rates.
This week, tech journalist #JuliaBlack joined me to discuss the rise of #pronatalism in #SiliconValley a growing movement encouraging people to have as many babies as possible.
We unpack why tech billionaires are so suddenly obsessed with having children and how their vision of the future is entangled with right-wing ideology, #eugenics and genetic engineering.

By describing a fetus as a person from conception, Trump has legitimized #fetal #personhood.

Pro-abortion activists have long warned that fetal personhood,
an ideology that calls for providing equal human rights to a fetus
(even if it’s a cluster of cells),
will effectively strip pregnant people of their own rights.

The legal language employed by fetal personhood also effectively categorizes any person receiving an abortion at any stage as a #murderer.

But the concept of fetal personhood is not only weaponized to limit abortion access
—it’s also been leveraged at the state level to restrict in vitro fertilization ( #IVF ) access for intended parents in places such as Alabama,
and even used to limit access to forms of #birth #control.
In May, the Texas GOP attempted to transform fetal personhood into law, claiming that “abortion is not healthcare, it is homicide,”
and called on lawmakers to extend “equal protection of the laws to all preborn children from the moment of fertilization"

The New Republic · Trump Sneaks Dangerous Rights for Fetuses into Executive OrderDonald Trump slipped the anti-abortion language into an otherwise unrelated order.

The Fertilo procedure differs from traditional #IVF because it takes ovarian support cells (OSCs) derived from human induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs) and co-cultures them with an immature egg to mimic the natural egg maturation process in the lab. A 2023 study showed that this method significantly improved egg maturation and embryo formation. Gameto says the Fertilo procedure avoids 80% of the hormone injections that traditional IVF requires and reduces the duration of a treatment cycle to three days.

“The ability to mature eggs outside the body within minimal hormonal intervention signficiantly reduces risks such as ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome and alleviates the side effects caused by high hormone doses,” said Dr Luis Guzmán, the lead at Pranor Laboratories, Peru, who oversaw the Fertilo procedure that resulted in the first live birth. newatlas.com/medical/fertility

New Atlas · First baby conceived via breakthrough fertility tech bornAn innovative fertility technology using stem cells to help an embryo mature outside the body has resulted in the world’s first live human birth. Gameto, the company that developed the approach, says it’s faster, safer and more accessible than conventional IVF.
