Willy Wonka’s Wonkavision scene hits different as an adult. While Mike TeeVee zaps himself into a million pieces, ultimate factory winner Charlie Bucket calmly says, “A million pieces take a long time to put together.” That’s the truth. When life feels like it’s flying apart, or plans scatter instead of land, remember: reassembly takes time. Especially when the change is good. If you’re unraveling, stay curious. You’re not broken; you’re just still in transmission.

“The sequel shows the band recruiting a new [12th] drummer and prepping for a reunion concert in New Orleans that they were booked for after Stormy Daniels canceled, with Elton John rocking out with the band in one scene.”

“The more we retreat into the music, the nicer things become. Not to be profound or anything. And it would be a first for me.” — Derek Smalls

🎬 🎥 #cinematography The Time That Remains (2009) is an autobiographical and historical film about a Palestinian family living under Israeli rule, but the comedic style makes it feel fictional, almost fantastical.

And there’s a reason why director Elia Suleiman chose this style 👇🏽

One of these days, I will travel to Islamabad and watch Superman and Fantastic Four in the same day, costs be damned.

What really dissuades me, however, is that in Islamabad, people tend to act nosier during the movie - "hello, you're here alone?" and then "why are you here alone?" and it turns into a way of prying details for these aunties and uncles who you will probably never see again.

Back when there was a cinema in Peshawar, no such thing happened.

American Anthem (1986)

A former high school football star who didn't pursue a 4-year scholarship to college, went to work instead when his father lost his job. He also participated in gymnastics.

Intrigued by a girl who's traveled to work with a famous gymnastic coach, he falls for her, and eventually tries gymnastics again in the effort to qualify for the US Team

The movie looks great, the soundtrack, while a product of its time, is above average. The story, however, doesn't work at all. Everyone seems to be treating each other horribly. There are father son conflicts, married couple conflicts, coach athlete conflicts, team member conflicts, and family conflicts. Someone is always battling someone. However, by the end, everyone manages to by happy for one another.

Oddly the dialogue and sound seemed like they were dubbed afterwards.

The final 30 minutes are all gymnastics.
