#FirstFlowers of the year have arrived: Aspens Populus tremuloides are starting to fully open their catkins (willows are just behind, first few open). They may be tiny, but there are millions! Officially wind pollinated, but they do draw insects.

Canada's first tornado of 2025 touches down in southern Alberta
Environment Canada said it was a landspout tornado, which are usually weaker than supercell tornadoes and can be whipped up by relatively benign conditions.

In my pursuit of trying out different local trails beyond my favorites, I hiked a trail today that went around this picturesque lake. A few weeks ago, I hiked a long, straight trail from a distant trailhead to/from this lake. Looking to combine the two into a substantial "lollipop" loop in the future. This area has so many nice trails! #hiking #nature
