Chris<p>After posting a very demanding route recently here's an easy one. Anyone with a reasonable level of finess should be able to do it, it is just under 5 miles.<br>I had wanted to show my daughter the wonderful views from Long Crag and Coe Crag, but all my usual routes were quite demanding. Though she has a pretty good level of fitness she lived in a very flat part of the country until recently so finds very long steep climbs hard on her muscles. I looked on the map and found this one which has a gentle climb and starts from a higher level. The following link gives route details and allows a .GPX download.<br><a href="https://out.ac/Ic7OAa" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">https://out.ac/Ic7OAa</a><br>Poppy's verdict. None of the uphill was very steep. There is one short section where the track goes down fairly steeply and is a bit uneven, so she suggested that some people might want to take a walking pole or poles (neither of us did).<br>It's especially beautiful up there at the moment now the heather is coming into bloom</p><p><a class="hashtag" href="https://mitra.northumbria.me/collections/tags/hiking" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#Hiking</a> <a class="hashtag" href="https://mitra.northumbria.me/collections/tags/thruntonwoods" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#ThruntonWoods</a> <a class="hashtag" href="https://mitra.northumbria.me/collections/tags/northumberland" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#Northumberland</a> <a class="hashtag" href="https://mitra.northumbria.me/collections/tags/uk" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#UK</a> <a class="hashtag" href="https://mitra.northumbria.me/collections/tags/walking" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#Walking</a> <a class="hashtag" href="https://mitra.northumbria.me/collections/tags/easyhike" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#EasyHike</a></p>

LollaMac<p>I was fixing a couple of chains yesterday and found a few lengths that were too short for necklaces but too long to just scrap. What to do? Bracelets of course! Just these three, but if they go well I'll definitely make some more. Chris<p>Today I went into Morpeth with my daughter Poppy, she wanted to go to a particular shop. We wentt into <a href="https://www.ptmy-morpeth.co.uk/" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">Emily's Tearoom</a>. This does delicious scones and pastries and food tea and coffee. It is a very interesting building that looks like it was a side street which had been converted, with the original facades intact.</p><p><a class="hashtag" href="https://mitra.northumbria.me/collections/tags/morpeth" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#morpeth</a> <a class="hashtag" href="https://mitra.northumbria.me/collections/tags/northumberland" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#northumberland</a> <a class="hashtag" href="https://mitra.northumbria.me/collections/tags/uk" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#uk</a></p>
Chris<p>I have written up a scenic walk from Rothbury to Alnwick that I did earlier this month. I have mapped it from the bus stop outside the Queen's head in Rothbury to Alnwick bus station. The link allows a gpx download of the route as well as giving a map and directions.</p><p><a href="https://out.ac/IbnpxO" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">https://out.ac/IbnpxO</a></p><p>I'd like to credit Shepherds Walks for giving me the route from Edlingham to Alnwick. I was having difficulty finding a route for this part on the map, when I came across their "Walk 36". They really do a great service by providing these guides which also give interesting historic information on the walks. If my route is any use to them as a "challenge walk" then I would be very happy for them to use it</p><p><a href="https://www.shepherdswalks.co.uk/blogs/self-led-walking-guides-northumberland-free-downloads/walk-36-edlingham-to-alnwick" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">https://www.shepherdswalks.co.uk/blogs/self-led-walking-guides-northumberland-free-downloads/walk-36-edlingham-to-alnwick</a></p><p>I found this a really challenging walk (though I did add an extra mile by missing two turnings!). so I would recommend it to confident hikers in good weather. I have noted a couple of escape routes which allow you to return or continue by bus, though there are many other road points where you could call for a lift!</p><p>One caveat is that I am not sure that the route between Cartington hill and Long Crag is the easiest route. It involves crossing access land, and none of the routes I have tried is particularly easy.</p><p>Also if you miss the last 471 from Alnwick the later buses involve a change and take a long time so set off in good time, or maybe do it in reverse, bus to Alnwick and walk back.</p><p><a class="hashtag" href="https://mitra.northumbria.me/collections/tags/hiking" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#hiking</a> <a class="hashtag" href="https://mitra.northumbria.me/collections/tags/walking" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#walking</a> <a class="hashtag" href="https://mitra.northumbria.me/collections/tags/northumberland" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#Northumberland</a> <a class="hashtag" href="https://mitra.northumbria.me/collections/tags/alnwick" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#Alnwick</a> <a class="hashtag" href="https://mitra.northumbria.me/collections/tags/rothbury" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#Rothbury</a> <a class="hashtag" href="https://mitra.northumbria.me/collections/tags/uk" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#UK</a> <a class="hashtag" href="https://mitra.northumbria.me/collections/tags/edlingham" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#Edlingham</a></p>
