Experiencing a lot of low days lately. When I get depressed like this, it ends up feeling like this is how its always been and how it always will be. I know thats probably not true. I hope Im on the right path. Right now it doesnt feel like it. It feels like I need to be prepared to leave my family and never look back. Maybe I let myself believe this is as something...

PHOTO ESSAY: The Need for Speed (and Artistic Expression)
For a second, imagine you dont live here. Deep in the southeastern part of Portland, theres a dormant volcano. Around this volcano, theres a massive forested public park (191 acres), with hiking trails, several reservoirs, a dog park, and a disc golf course. Every summer Portlanders huddle around the concrete walkway in the middle of the park and watch gravity-powered homemade cars hurtle down the track, from the top of the volcano to the bottom....

So one company now owns two of the three big network channels in #Portland, and the third is owned by Sinclair, a very bad company. Whee. This should not be allowed.

Hey, Portland!
Does anyone want an Epiphone SG "Bully" guitar? All black, dual humbucker, with some wood carved out (then mostly filled in) under the bridge.
It turns out I just like guitars with more mass on them (helps me stabilize) and the SG is too thin for me to enjoy playing. I could trade it in but I'd rather just see if anyone wants it first, especially because I didn't pay a lot for it and so there's not even that much I'd be looking to get back. I'm happy to throw in a guitar strap that isn't my style. I replaced one of the pots on it (I did not do a great job and used the wrong size and I widened the hole a little... not my best work BUT it is all working!)
Boosts okay/appreciated! Can/will provide pics on demand. Holds a tune as far as I can tell.
You'll probably have to come to my neck of the woods to pick it up as I can't drive, so!

"Artists Gwen Hoeffgen and Domenic Toliver facilitated the collaborative classes that put Kodak F9 Ultra cameras into the hands of students of all ages and taught them photography techniques, then asked participants to partner up for photography outings and complete writing assignments related to the images, which all tied back to the concept of “home.”

When Carpenter Media Group purchased Pamplin Media Group, Austin White, then the Portland Tribunes managing sports editor, said many newsroom employees had never heard of the company. "We still didnt really know what to expect," White said. "We thought we had maybe sold to a better company, one that might not be like a Gannett thats coming in and trying to slash a bunch of stuff. It felt like maybe a little more friendly to...

How to Conquer Pickathon (And Still Love It in the End)!
To love anything is to be challenged by it. Love shouldnt hurt you, and at its best, it has the power to push you to your limits in pursuit of growing, changing, and learning something new about yourself. After all, as the late Andrea Gibson once said, "It hurts to become." Depending on what it is you love, that love can also lead you to do goofy and weird bullshit that makes you and everyone...

The Mercurys Do This, Do That: August 18–24
In the words of contemplative poet Mary Oliver, "August of another summer, and once againI am drinking the sun." Are you drinking the sun yet? There are a number of methods with which to achieve this, but all of them require going outside. Luckily for you, there are many reasons to leave home this week, from the opening of a Japanese film festival to a Black Belt Eagle Scout set and Portlands own Rose City...
