Can you share a picture?

I can't recall right now, I'm sorry. But I do intend to have Margot Chu (my martial arts expert character) have a needlepoint (or cross-stitch? I need to learn the exact difference) in her home that says, "Don't make me go all kung fu on your ass".

#ScribesAndMakers 14, What's the funniest needlework you've ever seen?

This is not mine but, I love it.

It is the Addams Family credo, "Sic Gorgiamus Allos Subjectatos Nunc," which translates to "We gladly feast on those who would subdue us."

I'd add the following, though. "Especially the rich ones" Which I think is correct, but my #Latin isn't that strong. Can anyone please confirm if this is correct?

"Sic Gorgiamus Allos Subjectatos Nunc, Praesertim Divites."

No picture because it was years ago but there was this tree which's trunk had been yarn bombed in granny square crotchet and for whatever reason they had added a crotcheted bird house to it and Cookie Monster (from Sesame Street, crotcheted too) sat next to it but the cookie was a bird feeder.

Made: According to all the feedback they get the walker grip covers look funny in a good way.

Mayonnaise or anything made with it or anything like it, as well as mustard, ketchup, any salad dressing except Italian, anything called a salad, smooth peanut butter, okra any way except fried, eggplant, smooth peanut butter, Greek seasoning, and unsweetened tea. Yes, I'm picky. Less so than I used to be. I am ashamed to see it all written out, but not enough to change my current habits.

Mission accomplished: It's about 33° C but I finished another set of grip covers for the walker AND started on the first set of winter walker gloves, because the yarn ball had unravelled in my bag and I couldn't get it back together.

Sorry in advance to everyone in #MakersHour and #ScribesAndMakers tomorrow because I'm only ever yapping about these grip covers.

Squash of all types, and beans of most types (green beans and soybeans/edamame are the two exceptions there). I can tolerate pumpkin pie if I have to, because it often has a bunch of spices that I like *and* the pumpkin itself is puréed into unrecognizability, but it's still my least favorite common type of pie.

Foods I can’t stand?

Artificial and ultra processed edible substances. It’s wrong to call them food. It’s difficult to eliminate them all from my diet, but I try to steer clear of the worst offenders.

And anything that’s gone OTT on the refined sugar content. That burning sensation it leaves in my mouth no matter how much I brush my teeth after is rank.

The plastic wrapped memento mori you can get at the shops. Or anything that makes our consumption of plants and animals more abstract. We are part of nature, part of that cycle, but our food has been morphed into abstraction. We're being made to forget that connection for the sake of consumerism.

food I can’t stand

A cooking question? As someone who lives alone, I haven’t had to face foods I dislike for years. Freedom!

It’s been so long, there are yuck foods I’m forgetting—

But peas are unforgettable. My gag reflex engages just smelling them. I can’t keep them down if swallowed. If they’re in food, I’ll know it. They’re also insidious, using their roundness to escape & hide so I can’t pick them out. They WANT to be eaten.

What foods can't you stand?

I've been a vegetarian for over 20 years & the idea of eating meat now grosses me out. That's the main one. Otherwise, I don't like curry, okra, licorice. I loved mushrooms, but I recently got a bad batch at the store & now I'm off them for ... who knows how long.

There are very few foods I cannot stand due to taste. I don't eat overly spicy foods and some others because they can upset my stomach but it's less about taste. I also don't eat meat but that's by choice.

#ScribesAndMakers 12 Aug: What's the most rewarding thing about your creativity?

I could say a number of things, like the enthusiastic reception of my readers or the money that goes to my bank account every month (hey, I need to survive in late-stage Capitalism, too!). But the most rewarding thing of all are the reviews - I don't have many for my books, but I cherish each and every one of them.

Hint, hint.
