James Trickle uP<p>Have been listening to <a href="https://hachyderm.io/tags/AndySerkis" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>AndySerkis</span></a>' audio book reading of <a href="https://hachyderm.io/tags/TheLordOfTheRings" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>TheLordOfTheRings</span></a> which is apparently <a href="https://hachyderm.io/tags/free" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>free</span></a> on archive.org. His performance is spirited, though a little uneven in spots, and his singing is just fair. His voicing choices sound inspired by the actors in the Peter Jackson films (AS mimics Sean Bean's <a href="https://hachyderm.io/tags/Boromir" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Boromir</span></a>, Sir Ian McKellen's <a href="https://hachyderm.io/tags/Gandalf" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Gandalf</span></a>, etc.). It is also a little odd overall since it is a bit like <a href="https://hachyderm.io/tags/Gollum" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Gollum</span></a> reading <a href="https://hachyderm.io/tags/JRRTolkien" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>JRRTolkien</span></a>'s translation of The Red Book of Westmarch to me. Overall though, nicely done. I still love Tolkien's word craft of prose, poem, character and plot. <a href="https://archive.org/details/4.01.-appendix-a_202402" rel="nofollow noopener" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="ellipsis">archive.org/details/4.01.-appe</span><span class="invisible">ndix-a_202402</span></a><br><a href="https://hachyderm.io/tags/lotr" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>lotr</span></a> <a href="https://hachyderm.io/tags/tolkien" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>tolkien</span></a> <a href="https://hachyderm.io/tags/book" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>book</span></a> <a href="https://hachyderm.io/tags/audiobook" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>audiobook</span></a> <a href="https://hachyderm.io/tags/review" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>review</span></a></p>
