UPS picks up 62 items from small businesses. The truck containing those packages is sent off for repairs while still holding the packages. None of the packages show in tracking for 8 days. UPS does not respond. A news station gets involved. Then UPS responded.

#Riello #UPS, How do I hate thee? Let me count the ways:

1. "Firmware" update is 2GB .... for a UPS???? I think it's a full linux distro
2. The Windows "Configuration" program didn't find the UPS via IP, and via IP, you can't make any changes anyway
3. After upgrading to a new version, even though I downloaded it from the Riello web site, it now says "unofficial" on the system status, wtf??
4. When configuring the network details and backspacing over the IP address showing the default "DHCP" so I could put in a static address, I could delete more than 4 characters and started deleting the prompt, wtf?
5. For the latest download version, you don't download it from their main web page, you have to copy the link (which I didn't realise was so long so I didn't copy it all and it generated a 404). Haven't those guys heard of hyperlinks???
6. The reset button is directly under the USB port, That's a poor design decision as you could press it by mistake easily.

Alright, got UPS monitoring and info via `nut` on the homelab network. The three Proxmox nodes are all net clients, and I took the fifth RPi4 that wasn't doing anything and tossed Raspbian on it to be the net server. After a bit of configuring: all of the servers are getting the information without issue.

As a bit of a note: Ubuntu 24.04 LTS _does not work_ on ARM64 because [insert reason here]. I think you can compile it yourself and it's fine, but the packages in the repos are borked.

I am looking into a good solution for shipping internationally. Specifically, I'm looking to ship a book from USA to Uganda.

I'm not looking to start a subscription service. I'm just looking to ship one book.

I've looked into 3 options:
- FedEx: website breaks, gives no price. I'm told FedEx has high rates.
- UPS: website tells me ~$150 minimum.
- USPS: website tells me ~$45 minimum.

Figured I'd ask here to see if anyone knows of a good method of shipping a book-sized object from USA to Uganda.

...and there's the email from #UPS, confidently telling me the parcel containing these PCBs already sitting on my desk will arrive tomorrow. I did opt for the second cheapest postage option so that I'd have these in about a week instead of about three, but I guess I have to spring for the third-cheapest option if I want timely, correct communication updates as well.
