6:00AM: 60F, mostly cloudy.

The clouds will "burn off" later this AM. In fact, Prince of Wales Island and Ketchikan have heat advisories with temps up to 80 expected.

Yeah - that's hot for around here.

High of 67 in Sitka. This is the day I expected 70, so we'll see.

Note: If the weight of the world is getting you down, find yourself a dog and head to the mountains.

Sea ice extent in the Chukchi Sea has decline significantly in the past week though is still a bit above the 1991-2020 median for this point in the season. Just in the past few days, nearshore open water extends to Point Barrow. Beaufort Sea ice extent is the highest for mid-July since 2006 and is above the median for the 1980s! @ZLabe @Climatologist49

High temperatures (ºF) in and around Alaska on Saturday. Quite warm central Interior southeastward into the Yukon Territory and northwest British Columbia. Cool on the Beaufort Sea coast but closer to normal inland. Meanwhile, south winds across the Alaska Peninsula pushed the temperature at Port Heiden up to 69F (20.6C), highest temperature so far this year. #akwx #weather

6:00AM: 53F, fair.

It was a sunny day yesterday and I had the bright (ha!) idea to wash my car. It is now shiny and thoroughly vacuumed.

Unfortunately, the amount of pain I was in after, for the rest of the day, told me that it was probably the last time I wash a car. Arthritic bodies eventually tell you when it's time to stop. 😉 (See how sunny days are dangerous???)

Going up Harbor Mtn. today. It's my once-a-year and worth the incapacitation.

High temperatures (ºF) in and around Alaska on Thursday. Cool in southwest Alaska but otherwise most areas in Alaska close to normal for this time of year. However, southeast mainland Alaska and NW Canada on the warm side. #akwx #weather

6:00AM: 57F, no fog/mist as the NWS insists.

We are drying out. Sure, there are lots of clouds here & there, but no rain. That's a huge step forward toward summer.

The hike this weekend is a go. I must do it now: I will be having my 2nd shoulder replacement on the 30th and won't be hiking at all for awhile, due to risks of falling.
