Just discovered an incredible site for Bristol and nature lovers:

wildbristol.uk/

One person's meticulous catalogue of the wild nature in Bristol, started in covid lockdown. Fully searchable with pictures and locations. New sightings still being added! There's a huge range from plants and insects to birds and mammals. See the cashmere goats of Bristol!

@30yrdscreamer if you have opportunity to climb the rock face "suspension bridge buttress" which the Clifton side of the bridge perches over – you'll discover that the central roadway appears to be made out of wood. And that's on a bridge which was built before motor vehicles were invented. They have those weight limits (with weighing scales hidden under the approaches) but you do have to worry about whether some day a Vehicle will fall into the water/mud flats

Until then – spectacular views . #bristol

When I get the chance I like to drive into the city in the evening and stand on the bridge. Looking south towards the floating harbour, Ashton Gate Stadium and South Bristol lit with streetlights. It's a surprisingly calm place to be.

Sounds like someone has a way to generate enough of a neutron flux from some kind of fusion event to generate tritium and other isotopes -and plans to use the site of a local decommissioned reactor to get the process working

While electricity from fusion isn't going to happen soon -maybe stuff like this works and helps build experience

Train + bike commute range for people in #bristol who like (low?) luminosity neutron sources and the engineering challenges which go with

Two men shake hands, standing on a large empty field. Both wear blue blazers, the one on the right wears a pink shirt and has a grey beard. Behind them is an old green and brown concrete building, the former nuclear reactor.

@PetaPixel this is why whenever they need to film a edgy housing estate in Bristol they film it somewhere where the vehicles will be unscathed (at least during the day-nobody should leave visible stuff in a vehicle overnight anywhere in the city)

(Think this was Outlaws filming)

Note that I'm not a fan of caravans on the Downs; by Ikea I just felt it documented a grim life in a bleak corner of the city. I hope the council provides somewhere livable for these people – the British equivalent of a trailer park.

Suspect what was done at eastville and nearby was a precursor to the big one- both to test the process and avoid accusations of class warfare.

Went past the (former) Ikea Favela today, the week after the council moved all the caravans off the site. Today they are adding lots of little planter boxes along the roadside – close enough together that a caravan isn't going to fit. This is the van life version of one of those benches that homeless people can't sleep on.
