Note: We observed the USNS Laramie, a replenishment vessel under #US flag underway from #cyprus to x (could have been ISR Ashdod - ship did not give any destination) - now en route Gibraltar - it's important to keep an eye on these vessels (as support for genocidal supply in the #mediterranean sea)

Our subscribers were less kind — calling out that we were swamped with get-rich-quick trash (and worse)." Here's his honest, detailed explanation of how the company fell in a hole, and got out. (Medium has been profitable since August 2024.)

"I’m not sure if a company is allowed to be this blunt about how bad things were. But it’s very much of the Medium ethos that if something interesting happened to you, then you should write it up and share it," he says.

Patrick Hall, who teaches #data #ethics & #MachineLearning at George Washington University, said he's not surprised #Grok ended up spewing toxic #content, given that the #LLMs that power #chatbots are initially trained on unfiltered online data.

“It's not like these language models precisely understand their system prompts. They're still just doing the statistical trick of predicting the next word.”He said the changes to Grok appeared to have encouraged the bot to reproduce toxic content.
