The Eternal Daughter: Tilda Swinton nails it! After pressing play, I had to double-check the production year: this film has a special format (not quite widescreen) and an old-fashioned, slightly pale expression that made me think of giallo. Tilda Swinton is, as usual, terrifyingly credible here: the story revolves around a mother and daughter who live in a venerable old hotel that used to belong to the family. A mysterious and hazy (on many levels) film.

Leprachaun Returns is a goofy and very entertaining movie! ❤️ It is uncompromising in its approach to light-hearted entertainment horror, it has the whole B-movie / beer and popcorn package. 🍿

This is the kind of horror movie that young people in horror movies like to watch when they watch horror movies at home. Or the kind of movie that's on in the background in horror movies, often when someone has fallen asleep. Glorious crap! 😍

Cargo (2009)

Plot: Dr Laura P. signs on a freighter spaceship for eight years. The earth is a mess, people live on space stations and the rich live on Rhea.

A complex network of roles makes this an exciting story -although not very original.

The effects? Magnificent and ahead of their time: enormous volumes are built with cgi. Everything is so incredibly huge! 😍

Cargo is highly recommended. Great German sci-fi! 🙂

Haunted forest: American 'asian' horror of the grudge type! Mauro Borrelli has undoubtedly done his homework: the grudge elements are stylish and simply becoming. It's not too much, not too derivative, not too cheap/simple and not too corny. Real grudge with a punch!

Most of the film takes place in daylight. It's really not easy to make effective daylight horror, at least not with supernatural elements, but Borrelli really nailed it!

The Frankenstein Theory!
Mary Shelley's Frankenstein (1918) is a 'found text' style book.

This narrative technique even has a name: epistolary literature, designed as letters, diaries and notes that appear authentic.

This is actually the start of what we know best today as found footage!

The premise of this film is short and sweet: what if these letters are actually real..?

Significantly creepier than I had expected too, so it surprised in several ways. Recommended!

We just saw Handling the Undead (2024). 🇳🇴 What a gloriously disgusting and slow burning movie. Everything(!) is disgusting in this one, an enormously accomplished and solid production that manages to create a kind of timeless world (or a multi-time era). Great makeup/costume job, especially the makeup. Modest and very effective!

You can almost smell the whole movie. I think I need a shower! 😅 9/10 from here.

Dawn's got some bite to her! 🦷😈😁

What can one say about this movie without spoiling it?

- a body horror-driven catharsis

- a beautifully wrapped mental hand grenade

- a revenge movie with a messed up twist

I wish I could watch this for the first time again! I remember well how I gasped my way through the movie. Teeth is pitch-black humor on a par with movies like Tusk and Sightseers, the kind of movie you're a little embarrassed to laugh at.

The pattern to nearly every Saw movie vignette:

Do a gross thing, or grosser fatal thing will happen.

The victim does gross thing, but falters, so the audience gets to see both gross thing + grosser fatal thing.

Repeat for all but each installment’s designated survivor character across 10+ movies.

With strong Norwegian roots, Wisconsin Death Trip is a hypnotic film about... well, people from Wisconsin who die. And die. Like "He survived two world wars, then met his end on the flight home when he fell down the stairs of an airplane while lighting up his pipe." Subtly and incredibly tragicomic, I'm still a little unsure whether this is a documentary or mockumentary.

The kind of film that makes you glad you're a film fan!
