While walking with Charlie, I spotted a small bird perched on a fence we passed. Uncertain of its species, I paused to take a closer look. As it turns out, it was a fairly common female house sparrow (Passer domesticus). The composition of the scene, with its natural tones and quiet simplicity, isn't too bad.

If you enjoy photos of birds and other wildlife, take a look at my photo gallery. Sparrows are never overlooked—they're a valued and important part of my collection. Feel free to explore!

I've received inquiries about purchasing prints of my photographs. Since photography is a hobby for me, I haven’t been fully prepared to handle these requests in the past. However, I truly enjoy capturing moments through my lens and want to share my work with others.

If you’d like a print of one of my photographs, you can find it there. If a particular photo isn’t available, just let me know—I’ll be more than happy to upload it for you!

Here’s a house sparrow that we saw in the Canterbury town of Culverden, NZ, on our undergraduate ecology field trip last month. One of the students, William Harland, is a fantastically skilled photographer and got this great photo of it and uploaded it to #iNaturalist. This is long-billed syndrome and happens when the beak doesn’t stop growing. This house sparrow surprisingly seemed to be managing to feed.
