It's not bitterness on your part,, @liw — it's having political memory.

Politicians (regular ones or unelected tech industry ones) *rely* on folks not seeing the long game that's afoot.

#Microsoft still has same goals re: #FOSS: end #copyleft in favor of exploitable non-copyleft — old-school embrace, extend, extinguish.

& now fanboys help them!: github.com/sirredbeard/microso … timeline starts in 2004 — ignoring early moves making seem like Microsoft just ignored FOSS until 2004.

Microsoft marketing: “Your data stays in Europe.”

Microsoft’s Legal Director (under oath, in French Parliament): “No, I cannot guarantee that.”

Still think Microsoft Teams is a sovereign solution?

Thx @Linkshaender!

Work hard and you'll be rewarded is pure BS !!

A shitty corporation like Microsoft had to lay off nearly 10.000 of its employees to make up for the $80 billion it wants to invest in AI. None of the higher-ups worked hard for the money.

Think about that when you're going to your corporate job.

Hi people!!! If you, like me, are looking over your teaching materials for upcoming semester and discovered that you can no longer play videos embedded in your powerpoint slides, I have some solutions for you (thanks to a handful of fedi users)

1. change the file extension from pptx to zip, unzip the file using whatever unzipper you use, and look through the 'slides' folder. If you're tech savvy and speak computer, this will work for you. I am not tech savvy, so on to option 2...

Oh ffs. #microsoft #tech #help needed please!

#Question: how do you figure out what videos you've embedded in your pptx files without turning on connected experiences?

I have a huge portfolio of slides I use in my teaching, and most of them have super interesting video clips embedded in them. But I can no longer play these videos, or even access metadata so I can figure out what they actually are, without turning on #ConnectedExperiences...which, for reasons, ain't happening.
