Comment: "I suspect there is no such fussing about "back of white key widths" in actual piano design.
What's actually going on, when you look at any piano keyboard, is that the groups of black keys are given a substantially wider spread: they are not exactly centered on the dividing lines between the white keys."

Does this commenter know that there is no standard piano design? Wait till they find out that Yamaha keys are wider than Steinway keys, and that instruments have narrower keys the older they are. Which makes playing Liszt's stuff crazy compared to when Liszt was alive!

I need a new keyboard!

I moved and couldn't take my keyboard with me that I used to write music & practice every day. I need a new one at my new place, so from now until the end of August, my Bandcamp albums will be $2 as I try to cover some of the cost. Thank you!

The model I'm looking to get is basically the newer version of the one I have used for the past 12-ish years: a Yamaha YDP-145. They range €850-€1200 depending on the store & if it's on sale, so I'm hoping to get one on the lower end of that.

Other ways to help if buying music is not an option would be to share this thread or subscribe to my YouTube channel! I am getting close to monetization and I know it's not going to be a lot at first, but everything helps! Thanks so much!

Holland AlbrightHolland AlbrightHolland Albright: inspired by all things fantasy, creating faraway worlds and telling stories through music. Whether it be warlocks slaying dragons, or the feeling of sitting by a window watching the rain fall, it's easy to be swept away into another world through Holland's music.

If you need some joy in your day, this is my gift to you. Jon Batiste is a gem of a human being. He is also massively talented.

In this interview from 2023 with Chris Wallace, Jon talks about the limitations genres put on music. And THEN he genre hops through part of a Beethoven piece on the fly.

It’s so good. And Chris’ face is priceless. He’s almost giddy.
