Republican hatred of Democrats and of separation of church and state has significantly damaged political polling because reactionary Americans are willing to lie about their opinions if they think it helps Trump.

Okay, so the FiveThirtyEight site for polling results is now redirecting to the ABC News politics page. This change happened recently because I checked it yesterday (though it was stuck on March 4 results).

"On March 5, 2025, the website was shut down by ABC News and the team behind it were fired. This was the first day that the site's data showed the popularity of US President Donald Trump in his second term turn negative."

FiveThirtyEight, the website started by Nate Silver in 2007, and which shot to fame after its model predicted the 2008 U.S. election results in 49 of 50 states, is closing. This is a result of company Disney making cuts across ABC News, which acquired FiveThirtyEight in 2018 (Silver departed to start his own Silver Bulletin Substack in 2023).
