Scheduled for demolition this old pub in Preston, Lancashire, has been serving locals for over 200 years. It closed it's doors in February 2016 and has reached a point of no return. The damaged roof has let in the elements putting pressure on the walls and rotting the floors.
Soon only memories will remain.

managed to ignore my self-conscious feelings of looking like an idiot with my giant bike helmet yesterday and finally went for a proper little ride - did a fraction of the #preston guild wheel path. now going to slowly ramp up to eventually managing to do the whole circuit. considering i'm woefully out of shape and not properly ridden a bike in ages, this was a great personal achievement #cycling #bike #biking

A large hoverfly, likely - and I'm very happy to be corrected - a Volucella zonaria (Hornet mimic hoverfly), feeding on a blooming pink thistle flower. The insect’s reddish-brown thorax, large reddish compound eyes, and clear wings with dark margins are clearly visible. It’s perched on a vibrant thistle head with unopened buds nearby.

Peacock butterfly (Aglais io) feeding on a pink thistle flower with its wings closed, revealing the dark, cryptic undersides which resemble dried leaves or bark. The antennae and body are clearly visible, and the butterfly is perched upright on the flowerhead.

Female Common Darter (Sympetrum striolatum), perched on the dried seedhead of a plantain or similar wildflower. She has a pale yellowish thorax with muted markings and clear wings with visible venation. Its abdomen is slim and shows hints of pale brown and grey striping.

If you have access to Sky Arts I'd really recommend watching Kate Bryan's Week with Lubaina Himid - not so much for Bryan's commentary, which is gushing & seldom that interesting, but for Himid's brilliant & fascinating presentation of her working week.... really fascinating stuff, from a great artist.
