As Gov #GavinNewsom prepared to announce that he would take on #Trump’s #redistricting plans on behalf of #California, scores of federal #immigration agents massed outside the venue Thurs.

Newsom was set to speak at the Japanese American National Museum in #LosAngeles, when #BorderPatrol Sector Chief Gregory Bovino, who has been leading the immigration operations in CA, arrived, flanked by agents in helmets, camouflage, masks & holding guns.

The Democrats announced they will return so long as Texas Republicans end a special session & #California releases its own redrawn map proposal, both of which were expected to happen Friday.

Democrats did not say what day they might return.
