@knittingknots2 If nothing happens to the individual who "crosses the red line" then what's the point of having it. Trump can't (won't) be impeached because he has formed a Congress that aligns with him by their actions. What they think or say in private is irrelevant. Without a fully functioning Congress, there is no hope for impeachment. Then there's SCOTUS who has given Trump carte blanche. Trump is 78; 79 in June. It's unreasonable to think he'll die of natural causes.

OK! I was finally able to ask Yanis Varoufakis if he knows copyleft and the free software movement are behind him and if he'll work more with the EFF to push for public ownership of "the cloud".

I really want him to see and use the power of copyleft in his strategies with DiEM25 and the Progressive International. Neither group is much in the #Fediverse yet, I've noticed. But the political infrastructure exists!

Bourgeois ideology, colonialism, and capitalism are tied together through a myth of European superiority. Amin shows how global history has been rewritten to justify imperialism, capitalism, and Western dominance — not just through violence but through powerful ideas.

"In early 1964, Jean Ziegler, a young Swiss politician, received a phone call from a man claiming to represent Ernesto Che Guevara, the Cuban revolutionary and minister of industry. Che would be in Geneva in March for a UN conference on trade policy, and some comrades had suggested Jean might be his chauffeur during his stay. Was Ziegler available for the gig?

Today, in his tenth decade of life, Ziegler is Switzerland's most notorious public intellectual. That's because over the course of writing about 30 books, serving for close to three decades in the Swiss parliament, and relentlessly crusading for left-wing causes in his free time, Ziegler has made a career of unsparing criticism of his home country, and its outsize influence on the rest of the world.”—Atossa Araxia Abrahamian

#Revolution With Joy’: #Bernie and #AOC Draw Massive Crowd in Los Angeles

Sanders appeared to draw his largest crowd ever as he warned supporters that “we are living today in an #oligarchic form of society”

by Naomi LaChance, April 12, 2025

"Sanders noted that Musk had posted a video to X on Friday showing that Sanders has been warning that America is becoming an oligarchy for decades. 'Well, Elon, you’re damn right, that’s what I’ve been talking about,' Sanders said.

" 'The difference is I’m no longer talking about how we’re moving to oligarchy. I’m talking about how we are living today in an oligarchic form of society. Three months ago, when Trump was inaugurated, standing right behind him during his inauguration, were the three wealthiest people in this country, Mr. #Musk, Mr. [Jeff] #Bezos and Mr. [Mark] #Zuckerberg. And right behind them, were 13 other #billionaires who Trump had nominated to head up major federal agencies. And that, brothers and sisters, is what #oligarchy is all about.' "
