Yes. There's an interesting discussion to be had (though not at this time of the morning) about the interplay between reduced smoking rates and changing attitudes to smoking.

Smoking is offensive to non-smokers. Therefore, the fewer people smoke, the less acceptable and attractive smoking becomes. Equally, when #smoking is seen in a more negative light, fewer people smoke.

#Wildfire smoke is like #smoking 'half a pack a day.'

#Smoke from Canadian #wildfires continued to prompt #AirQuality alerts Monday in the #Northeast #US as well as the Upper #Midwest.

#Michigan saw a statewide #air quality advisory on Monday, & while #Minnesota is seeing some relief, the #WildfireSmoke is persisting in #Wisconsin, & spreading across #NewYork, #Vermont, & #Maine.

"Imagine checking out of your hotel room, confident that everything went smoothly, only to find a $500 non-smoking fee charged to your credit card."

"No warning, no evidence, and no actual smoking."

"That’s the reality for dozens of travelers staying at hotels using air quality monitoring systems from a company called Rest."

Tobacco control measures now shield three-quarters of humanity and have averted an estimated 300 million additional smokers since 2007.

Graphic pack warnings have led the charge: only nine countries required them in 2007, today it's 110, covering 62% of the world’s population.

Closing the policy gap in the 40 holdouts, turbo-charging tax hikes and regulating vaping is now essential to extend these life-saving gains. #health #globalhealth #world #tobacco #smoking #news

From July 1, it'll be illegal to smoke in public places in France where there might be children — which means no cigarettes on the beach, in parks, or at public swimming pools. About 23% of adults in the country say they smoke daily, and the government is pushing for a cigarette-free generation by 2032. Health and Family Minister Catherine Vautrin says tobacco needs to disappear from places where children might be present, and smoking must be de-normalized. Here's more from @fodors. We want to know: Do you, or did you ever smoke tobacco?

France bans smoking in parks, beaches and bus stops.

France has struggled to kick its smoking habit. A new public health decree published Saturday aims to change that.

In the coming days, smoking will be banned in all French parks and sports venues, at beaches and bus stops, in a perimeter around all schools, and anywhere children could gather in public.
