Alfred Chow - Maker of Things

The sort of make that should only take a couple of hours has been several days in the making.

The Yew wood scales on my 'Swiss Army Knife' style key fold broke after seven years of service and abuse.
I made a quick pair in Beech to replace them, and then sourced a bit of Laburnum to make nice ones.

They were hand cut from the centre of a branch crotch to get the feather figure in the grain, with a tiny bit of sap wood at the end.

I hand cut the branch down the pith to split into two, and then hand cut a slice off each half to book match the figure on each scale.

It is a shame you never see both sides now it is assembled.
