The Vinyl Ape 🦧<p>PUNISHMENT OF LUXURY<br>Engine Of Excess / Jellyfish<br>1979 UK 7” single</p><p>The second of the two killer <a href="https://cupoftea.social/tags/45rpm" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>45rpm</span></a> finds from Left Of The Dial Records in Orange, Ca..</p><p>Was AMPED to find this!<br>About a decade or so ago, I downloaded a folder of obscure/forgotten <a href="https://cupoftea.social/tags/70s" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>70s</span></a> and <a href="https://cupoftea.social/tags/80s" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>80s</span></a> <a href="https://cupoftea.social/tags/punk" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>punk</span></a> abd <a href="https://cupoftea.social/tags/newwave" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>newwave</span></a> songs, and included in that was “Engine Of Excess” by POL.</p><p>The b-side is really fun too, but the A is a true gem for fans of that genre’s time frame.</p><p>Their debut from ‘79, Laughing Academy”, still eludes me. However…</p><p>Neither of the two songs on THIS single (from the same year) appear on the album, which made this a very cool find for me.</p><p>I kinda always wanted to be in a band that LOOKS like them.
