AI6YR Ben<p>Bike repair tip of the day: if you need to remove or attach new rubber handles on a bicycle, Windex (or other slippery window cleaner) is your friend. The solution makes things slippery so you can attach/remove things, but then evaporates. <a href="https://m.ai6yr.org/tags/bikerepair" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>bikerepair</span></a> <a href="https://m.ai6yr.org/tags/bikes" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>bikes</span></a> <a href="https://m.ai6yr.org/tags/BikeTooter" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>BikeTooter</span></a></p>

Maxwell (it/its)<p>Today, took tires off my Trek and installed the Schwalbe Marathon Plus tires intended for my e-bike, and had the chance to directly compare them to the Continental Gatorskin that I had installed on the front:</p><p>The Marathon Plus is tight, but not extremely so. It went on without much complaint.</p><p>The Gatorskin is verging on <em>absurdly</em> tight. Removing the tire is tricky: I ended up sticking several (heavy-duty!) tire levers between the bead and rim before attempting to lever it out.</p><p>I have better hopes for the Gatorskin fitting my e-bike.</p><p><a href="https://meow.social/tags/Cycling" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Cycling</span></a> <a href="https://meow.social/tags/BikeRepair" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>BikeRepair</span></a></p>
Maxwell (it/its)<p>Cycling fedi, I want 700x32-37c / 32-37-622 tires, and I want them <em>very tight</em>.</p><p>I want the tires you couldn't install on your wheels without heavy-duty tire levers or other special tools.</p><p>I want tires that are durable on asphalt and preferably puncture-resistant.</p><p>For me, these were my 700x32c Continental Gatorskins on my old Trek, which is what I'm going to try next on my e-bike, however sub-optimal this choice might be.</p><p>But I want to know what <em>tight</em> tires you've wrangled in the past, and which would be most recommended.</p><p><a href="https://meow.social/tags/Cycling" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Cycling</span></a> <a href="https://meow.social/tags/BikeRepair" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>BikeRepair</span></a></p>
