Until they begin to flower, they will live in a little house made from wire hoops and a floating row cover. This house prevents flea beetles from reaching the plants and turning the leaves into lace.

This is garlic basil eggplant. The recipe is from the Kirsten Shockey book of Fermented Vegetables.
