This is a landscape format colour photograph taken from underneath a wooden pier. Taken standing on the concrete sea wall, the wooden struts of the pier curve away from the viewer to the left. Light falls through the boards of the walkway above creating a grid of shadows and light. Between the struts to the left, the sea is visible together with a further seawall on which stands a lighthouse. The light is diffuse and the colours muted: it almost appears grey scale.
