Rick Thoman<p>Wildfire area burned in the Northwest Territories, Canada has nearly doubled in the past two weeks, with more than 1.33 million hectares (3.30 million acres) burned in 2025. Although wildfire as been minimal in the Yukon Territory and Alaska this month, the northern North American total area burned is now nearly twice the 1988 to 2024 median and on par with 2022 and 2024. <span class="h-card" translate="no"><a href="https://fediscience.org/@Climatologist49" class="u-url mention" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">@<span>Climatologist49</span></a></span> </p><p><a href="https://alaskan.social/tags/Wildfire" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Wildfire</span></a> <a href="https://alaskan.social/tags/akwx" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>akwx</span></a> <a href="https://alaskan.social/tags/ytwx" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>ytwx</span></a> <a href="https://alaskan.social/tags/ntwx" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>ntwx</span></a> <a href="https://alaskan.social/tags/Summer2025" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Summer2025</span></a></p>
