@publicdomainrev I remember reading an anecdote about #edvardgrieg who, when finishing his pianoconcerto, presented the score to Liszt hoping to get him to read through it and get some favorable comments. Liszt asked Grieg if Grieg could play through it. Grieg confessed that although he wrote it, he hadnt had time to learn how to play it properly.
Liszt then toke the score, sat down at the piano and played it from sight, also mixing in some of the orchestral parts.
