Those in Boorloo (Perth) Western Australia, please come along to our film screening this Saturday at 7pm of Desire Lines.

"An Iranian-American transman, Ahmad, searching for his place in history, finds more than a just link to the past in the archives. Drawing from first-person accounts, as well as fictionalized segments, filmmaker Jules Rosskam explores the lines of desire as they intersect with identity for many transmen.
Join us for a screening of Desire Lines. Followed Q&A featuring Nova Sobieralski senate candidate with the socialist alliance."

A closing thought for #TDoV / #TransDayOfVisibility, on the less joyful side

Even among the people who love us, sometimes it feels like we can only exist in one of two states:

  • highly fetishized dehumanized sexual objects
  • sexless, sexuality-less, romanceless entities from beyond

and that sucks

Sobbing happy tears this evening, in the wake of seeing all my fellow trans folks showing up as their beautiful selves, seeing so many cis allies speaking up today, having driven past multiple pro-trans signs on the way to the airport earlier, and having just wrapped up an evening of interviews of @petalumapride.org board candidates.

We are beautiful and I am full of hope for our collective future :sparkles_transgender:

transitioning is both the hardest thing i’ve ever done and the most worthwhile, but i never even would have started if it wasn’t for all the beautiful transfems i saw online being the badass girls i wished that i could be

there’s lots of different kinds of visibility and lots of different ways to be seen, and i guess i just wanted to say thank you to everyone who came before me and could never really know who they were helping and how

you saved lives by living your own to the fullest

and i’ll do my best to keep the fires burning for whoever’s coming next, because i owe everything to this :trans_fire:

I'm watching Monkey Man, because #TDOV is Trans Day of Vengeance, right? :flan_cleaver:

Wait, whu-, oh... visibility! :flan_hurrah:

But I can see you, you're right here-. Yes, I know what today is, but I could see you yesterday too. And the day before! :flan_confused:

Not that kind of visibility? I think I get it now. So, other people should be watching Monkey Man. :flan_think:

Hey, you, the one who can't see trans people! Watch Monkey Man so people you can't see can punch you in the face! :flan_molotov:
