...so who in the #fediverse is up for setting the collective goal of learning #Chinese (#Mandarin)? Are there any Chinese people on #Mastodon, or is everything happening in #XiaoHongShu ?
@hopland German for me for now (work requires), and then Norwegian in fact... Though when I open my mouth and try any Norwegian the locals look at me funny 
@JimmyB unless it's from the west. We have that Hansa dialect.
@hopland I am so far from dialects! I try to learn a few phrases each year - and I forget them all again. Sometime I will come for a few months and immerse myself...
@hopland how Chinese are you looking for lol. Malaysian Chinese here. Speak two Chinese languages including Mandarin. Currently upgrading my Chinese skills
@liztai "how Chinese" is a great question. Just looking at the map of china makes me think that pinning any particular people group might offend another people group - except the Han.
I'm thinking of starting slow... And it would be "simplified Chinese", which isn't all that simple, but it's easier to peel Mandarin than tradition Chinese... pun intended.
