While digitizing my paper files, I came upon a "special report" from the Boston Globe print edition about the Clinton impeachment, from December 1998.

Look back on simpler times, when the GOP pretended that lying about an affair was sufficient grounds to remove a president from office. Look, and despair.

A person familiar w/ the exhibit plans…previously told WaPo the placard was removed as part of a content review the #Smithsonian undertook following pressure from the #Trump admin to remove an #art #museum director.

“We were not asked by any Administration or other govt ofcl to remove content from the exhibit,” the Smithsonian said in a statement Saturday. “The section in question, #Impeachment, will be updated in the coming weeks to reflect all impeachment proceedings in our nation’s history.”

The Smithsonian Institution has removed a reference to President Donald Trump's two impeachments from an exhibit. A label had been added in 2021 to the National Museum for American History's exhibit on the American presidency, in a section called "Limits of Presidential Power." A spokesperson for the museum said that the section needed to be overhauled and that the decision, which he said is temporary, came after the museum was "reviewing our legacy content recently."
