After a week in <a href="https://pixelfed.de/discover/tags/Tromsø?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#Tromsø</a> I took a flight (my first since 2019) to <a href="https://pixelfed.de/discover/tags/Trondheim?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#Trondheim</a> - this was a bit forced due to miseries of Nordlandsbanen. In the end I was ok with it as it saved me two full days. <br>

During my business trip Trondheim felt always a bit sleepy and boring, but this impression changed towards the better during my stay. After landing I took the train to Lade and after some siesta I went for a run to explore a bit and find out where the <a href="https://pixelfed.de/discover/tags/parkrun?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#parkrun</a> would take place.

Time to say goodbye to <a href="https://pixelfed.de/discover/tags/Tromsø?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#Tromsø</a> already.<br>
I had mixed feelings. Nature around and on the island is still absolutely breathtaking, while downtown developed into one big tourist trap. Many of the old places don't exist anymore. Also it was hard to interact with locals, as they are fed up with tourists due to overtourism. <br>
I still checked prices for flats - one never knows... Probably I'd choose another Norwegian city to move to though.<br>
One if probably not supposed to do such a <a href="https://pixelfed.de/discover/tags/hike?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#hike</a> 1,5 days after a halfmarathon, but I felt strong and I had to take advantage of that weather. So I took the bus to the final stop of the local bus on mainland and planned to climb Fløya from the South. Due to big amount of snow already rather low in the valley I had to abandon that plan as it was way too risky. So I went back the same path and planned to sit in the bus somewhere near the bridge. But somehow I was curious about those Sherpastairs and went up to Storsteinen. Up was rather hard, but downhill every step was pain. I didn't regret any of them though.
In the Dark<p><strong>Points of the Compass</strong></p><p>A while ago <a href="https://telescoper.blog/2024/03/07/a-man-of-the-world/" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">I posted about the countries that I’ve visited over the years</a>. The result is summarized in this map:</p><p><a href="https://telescoper.blog/wp-content/uploads/2024/03/myvisitedplaces-1.jpg" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank"></a></p><p>You can see that I haven’t seen that much of the world. In fact the map exaggerates what I have seen, because the only place I have visited in Canada was Toronto (and some places to the West of that); I have visited the USA too, but not Alaska. Likewise the only bit of Australia I’ve visited is Sydney and environs.</p><p>Anyway, I saw a thread on BlueSky yesterday which was asking people what was the furthest they have visited North, South, East, and West. Here are my answers:</p><ul><li><strong>North.</strong> Tromsø (Norway), Latitude 69° 39′ N;</li><li><strong>South. </strong>Cape Town (South Africa), Latitude 33° 55′ S;</li><li><strong>East. </strong>Sydney (Australia). Longitude, 151° 12′ E;</li><li><strong>West.</strong> San Francisco (USA). Longitude, 122° 27′ W.</li></ul><p>I was initially tempted to put Nagoya (Japan) as my furthest East, but at a mere 136° 55′ it’s nowhere near as far East as Sydney. I wasn’t sure which of Sydney or Cape Town is furthest South either, but Sydney is just a little further North (33° 52′). I went to Tromsø years ago for an Aurora watch, which was great fun. Other than that my furthest North is Reykjavik (Iceland). Many of my observational astronomy colleagues will have been to Hawaii, which easily beats me in the westerly direction. Others have been to Antarctica, which beats me down under.</p><p>So my span is about 270° E-W (maximum of 360°) and about 103° N-S (maximum of 180°). Forhandlingsretten gis bare til store, korporative forbund, mens arbeidskjøperne og staten beholder styringsrett og påtvinger fredsplikt. Arbeiderne tvinges til lydighet, og all kollektiv maktkamp kan stoppes etter maktas behov, dette er dagliglivet i et økonomisk diktatur.</p><p>Lovene og avtalene i arbeidslivet fremstilles som rettigheter, men binder arbeiderne til passivitet og resignasjon. Arbeidskjøpernes styringsrett og legalistiske fredsplikt sikrer at kapitalen rår på arbeidsplassen og at all kamp begrenses til systemets rammer. Stat og kapital forfalsker likeverd, men våre "valg" er alltid markert av maktenes grenser.</p><p>Reell frihet skapes kun gjennom vår egen kollektive, direkte kamp, på tvers av forbund, lover og formaliteter.
