Omfg. " Derangement Syndrome". Basically, if you criticize Trump, you're deemed mentally unfit and are disqualified for office.

This, you dinguses, is why I recommend deeming a mental illness. But nooo!! "We can't give sympathy" - or "I have and therefore this idea gives me the sad."

I'm king over here and I'd gladly drag these bastards down in the social stigma pit with me.

@hopland
I can see it as a mental illness, like an infectious disease. From my viewpoint, racism is a meme (in the original sense of the word*) that infects people vulnerable to it, i.e. they have no (mental) immunity to prevent it. Some people are more vulnerable to it than others, depending on their existing mental health. And it is something that can be cured, many people have been. It may not be easy, especially with those with severe cases, but it can be done. What is important is to treat it like any other disease, including trying to minimize its spread and make sure that people are innoculated against it as early as possible.

* I.e. not a funny captioned picture on the Internet.

@murdoc this is my point.

isn't permanent, as evident by the ABSOLUTE LEGEND & HERO: Daryl Davis.

He got people to not only to leave the Klu Klux Klan, but they gave him their garbs as well.

It infuriates me that people don't see it this way, but hate begets hate - and people want to hate.

But as my mother always said: "fighting fire with fire burns the whole forest down."

is (psychologically) cultivated paranoia and narcissism - by way of politics.

I.e "they're inferior" is , or "they're coming to take our jobs" is .

Then it's false pride, historical revisionism and delusions of grandeur, that leads to NPD.

The "us vs them" is literally the pack instinct being constantly triggered and trained to forgo rational thinking, leading to PPD.

Stir and blend, blend and stir, AND BAM: .

@murdoc @ricardoharvin the reason it should be called a mental disease is because it is being spread. You don't necessarily need to be a racist to spread it, but a psychopath or a sociopath...

To psychologically manipulate someone to become mentally diseased should be directly illegal and deserves jail time, as well as reperations - IMHO.

But politicians should then be deemed mentally diseased if they try to spread a mental disease to sort of preemptively nip their power in the bud.

@hopland @ricardoharvin
No, you don't have to be infected with racism to spread it, but I would then argue that such a person was infected with something else. IMO jail doesn't cure anything, and in fact often makes things worse just like any physical disease.

@murdoc @ricardoharvin jail in the US makes things worse. Reformist prison systems like in Norway gives people time and a place to heal.

I guess this is the portion where we go to politics and say yes, is real (a socio-economic and political theory regarding the US "justice" system), in that interstate policing was meant to catch freemen and send them to chain gangs in privatized prisons to re-inslave them.

That doesn't mean policing and prisons are always bad, except for in the US.

@hopland @ricardoharvin
True, there are different ways of doing it. I was speaking in simplistic terms, that of just locking them up and hoping for the best. Or not caring and it's more about punishment than reform. Or as you say, profit, the worst of the lot.

@murdoc @ricardoharvin "for profit prisons" are oxymoronic and are a conflict of interest.

If you want repeat costumers, just warp their minds so much that they'll have a higher chance of coming back.

This is also apart of CRT, because you of course don't want the darkies to heal and return to society. Noooo! We want you to be broken, so you'll come back and help us fullfil our fiduciary responsibility- I mean... repay your debt to society. Yes, that's it...

@murdoc @ricardoharvin like loitering, standing in the street is illegal. My Norwegian mind cannot comprehend.

Except, wait: 3 strikes and that's 20 years? Oh hello, !! IT'S YOU AGAIN! Back into line!

The whole US system of revenge (or as call it: "justice") is a blood lusting, vengeful affair, that costs society billions every decade.

The "wE MuSt pUnIsH bAd GuYs CuS wE gOoD gUyS" is that typical yankie brain rot that makes me understand why you hate cops and jail.

@murdoc @ricardoharvin like the thing that also pisses me off about Americans is that they are so stuck in their bubble they can't even fathom there's a better way.

Police in Norway are highly educated and tested individuals. The recruitment process is ROUGH and very, very few people QUALIFY. They are experts in DEESCALATION(!)

Similarly, Norwegian prisons are SAFE PLACES, where inmates can HEAL and GROW to become productive members of society. If not, at least they're treated HUMANELY.

@hopland @ricardoharvin
That sounds good. I don't know anything about Norwegian justice. I did however see a piece on prisons in Iceland, and I liked those.

@murdoc @ricardoharvin they call it "vacation"... which is fitting, because they are treated well.

But it also ensures a high success rate of inmates reacclimating into society, getting jobs and getting their life in order - comparatively speaking.

In as much it's worth it, because the more you reform, the more you prevent damage to society in the future, saving lots of money and lives in the process.

It may seem costly, but the savings come after - not during.

@hopland @ricardoharvin
Yes. This is actually part of a bigger principle of long vs. short term investment (not just monetarily). Properly done, long term investment will always "pay out" more than short term gains will. This is why we build roads, libraries, hospitals, etc. Modern civilization is kinda built on this principle, but you rarely see it talked about (at least here in North America). Instead to see all the right-wing "pull yourself up by your bootstraps" and "self-made millionaire" types going on like they had no help, which is a lie.

Invest in people first, enjoy the benefits later. It may be counter-intuitive, even difficult at times, but it's worth it.
