This Bolshevik-style twist shows interesting aspect of the patents system in #USA / #SSA these days.
You can spent billions dollars and decades of time on some research, get a related patent, and booms - an orange kgb agent come to power and it get confiscated and given ("licensed") to your competitors who bribed a related official using president-of-mafia personal butthurts.
For over century the US patents was staple and source of power in so called "western world". But not anymore

I received an email from SSA.gov for the first time ever, claiming the spending bill ‘ensures that nearly 90% of Social Security beneficiaries will no longer pay federal income taxes on their benefits.’
