I was always surprised why there is not a way to sync #calendars and #contacts in #android without an app.
Although there are FOSS apps that work well, I'd expect that such a basic feature would be something the OS would do out of the box, specially considering the OS already provides an abstraction for "accounts".
For #degoogled #androidROM it makes even more sense, since most likely users will sync contact and calendar from a "custom" #caldav #carddav service.

has some serious backup options, and even security options password protection.

All of the notes are contained inside a database and have to be exported, but this just adds to the effectiveness of the app.

Rather than relying on a flat file system, what you get is faster access to your notes.

That they are periodically backed up is nice. That the synchronization feature is kind of rules, because you have options in your providers.

@ndw I've been a happy customer of #Fastmail (they're on Mastodon, too: @fastmail) since January 2018, and can comfortably recommend them if you're looking for a solid email host.
They're based in #Australia, and have full support for #IMAP, #CalDAV, #CardDAV, as-well as #JMAP if your tool(s) supports that. I like that they only do email and do it well. No ever-expanding product suite of tools I don't really need, nor any confusion on who the customer is. Nice and straight-forward :).

The #OpenWebCalendar has a new #UI!

You can head over to open-web-calendar.hosted.quell and try it out:

- #edit the #calendar AND see it updating
- #encryption protects #private calendars and the #password
- #CalDAV support
- Change the size to see how it works on other screens

In the picture, the URL to the Personal CalDAV calendar is encrypted and the events show up.

Technically, I really enjoyed #flexbox and #CSS variables i.e. for the dynamic resizing.

Funktioniert reibungslos.

Time to request community suggestions. Since @mailbox_org doesn't have their own mobile apps, I've been looking at options, but I'm not very happy so far.

Is there an #android app that has integrated #email and #calendar with #imap/ #caldav support? Preferably in one app or at least a suite that integrates smoothly, and isn't made by Google?

The only candidate I have found so far is outlook, which means trusting my mails to Microsoft, not exactly an appealing prospect?
Huge bonus for #FOSS suggestions

I use #khard, #khal, #ikhal with #vdirsyncer to manage my addressbooks and calendars stored on my #cardav #caldav server. All is fine and very efficient. However, I'm looking for a todo manager for for my todo list. I know todoman but I would like a CLI tool with a TUI (think about curses or whatever, not only a command line to launch on each task you want to modifiy). If it uses vdirsyncer folder, it would be magic, but if it has an integrated caldav client, it's ok too. Any idea ?

I've just discovered the VJOURNAL component of the iCalendar standard, for syncing journal entries:

icalendar.org/iCalendar-RFC-55
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ICalenda

It's supported by some CalDAV servers, such as Radicale:

radicale.org

But the only client I can find with support for VJOURNAL is @jtx:

jtx.techbee.at/

Sadly, jtx Board only supports Android AFAIK, limiting the utility of VJOURNAL sync.

Are there any other VJOURNAL clients in existence?
